I began teaching online in March 2020, and what began as an epic shakeup has evolved into an excellent setting for music lessons. From my youngest to my oldest student, I've seen remarkable benefits from teaching and learning remotely:
Music lessons can be a vulnerable experience. Getting to have that experience from home and in your pj's ;) is a game-changer.
These days, I'm also teaching in-person lessons at my home studio in Portland, OR. We take some safety precautions: temp check at the door, masks indoors and air purifiers in the studio. We also occasionally meet online.

- many students are more relaxed at home
- many students are more focused at home
- students who play large instruments (hey pianists!) get to train on their own instruments
- teachers are able to use the zoom feature on their cameras to show close-ups of written music, their instruments and themselves playing allowing them to easily direct the focus of the lesson
- plus, no commute!
